The Villa

The villa Zamagna was refurbished by the owners in 2013. They succeeded in keeping its old charm and many significant details from the family history that dates back longer than 350 years. The bedrooms are bright and spacious, each with a private bathroom and fresh linens. The rooms offer a beautiful view of the garden or the bay. There is a lovely traditional garden with vine-covered trellises and stone paths. There are plenty of walks in the area, around the bay and up the hill behind the villa. A small chapel is nearby and part of the Zamagna residence. The chapel has been donated by the Zamagna family to the village and is still used by the local residences for church ceremonies.

The Surrounding Area

There is so much to enjoy! The lovely villa and the surrounding gardens. The sea…right outside our front door! Long walks along the seaside, beautiful views and wonderful adventures in ancient towns and villages await. There are little coves and swimming spots and plenty of pine trees for shade – it is pleasant to walk along the shore or just to sit in one of the little sea-front restaurants sipping a glass of local wine. For those interested, it is possible to rent a kayak nearby (extra cost). The sea in Zaton is a particularly vivid colour, and Zaton was a favourite of the old Dubrovnik aristocratic families who used to holiday here.

We will be providing an early morning (pre-yoga class) offering of tea, coffee, juice and light snacks such as fruit, nuts, bread and cheese. The villa does not provide meals, so we will be enjoying the tastes and flavours of traditional cuisine while having our brunch and dinners at local restaurants all within easy walking distance of the villa. Some of the finest restaurants in Zaton Bay are very close to our villa. Also, on our day-trips we will stopping at some wonderful restaurants! This will be an additional cost to you. There is a fridge available at the villa to keep snacks in.

The yoga sessions will be a balanced combination of sustained poses as well as poses flowing in a mindful progression from one to another (Hatha Flow). Mindfulness and focus on breath are an integral part of the class. Attention is always given to basic alignment & therapeutic principals.
Modifications are offered to help individuals understand and work with their unique limitation. Classes are balanced with energy, to give you a good physical work-out and calm to keep you balanced. Classes are suited for all levels of practice. Please let me know if you have special challenges and are concerned about the yoga. There is an indoor and outdoor space for practising yoga – each with a unique atmosphere.

Excursions & Activities

Dubrovnik Panorama & City Tour
Irish playwright George Bernard Shaw said, “Those who seek paradise on earth should seek it in Dubrovnik.” Known for pale blue water and magnificent walls surrounding its distinguished Old Town, Dubrovnik offers guests an unmatched combination of culture and beauty.
Our tour begins with a short sightseeing trip by bus to reach the hill overlooking the city from where we have a spectacular view of the ancient village (the historical Ragusa). Then we will enter into the heart of the city through Pile Gate, located at the top of Stradun, the famous main street of the old town. From here, we will begin our tour on foot.

The Konavle region
A unique opportunity to spend an unforgettable day in an idyllic natural setting. Enjoy a drive through the picturesque villages of the Konavle region (Popovići, Radovčići) …before we stop above the town of Molunat for a view of the Croatian southernmost part – the Prevlaka peninsula. We continue through the Konavle Valley to the Konavoski Dvori Restaurant. A traditional welcome of local brandy and dried figs will take place in front of the restaurant.
Enjoy the romantic charm created by the swift river lined with greenery, exceptional wines and traditional cuisine of the area. A visit to the gallery of the primitive painter Mijo Šiša Konavljanin in the village of Mihanići will round off this memorable and highly enjoyable excursion.

Island of Korčula
Korčula is thought to be the birthplace of Marco Polo, and legend says that the town of Korčula was founded by the Trojan hero Antenor. History and tradition are apparent when you walk along the paved streets and squares of this lovely town. The city tour includes a visit to cultural and historical monuments, including the treasury of the Abbey, the City Museum and the Museum of Icons. The rest of the day is spent at leisure before our return to Dubrovnik. The most popular excursion.

Pelješac wines and vineyards
A quality wine is, by its drinkability, colour and bouquet, a real treat for your eyes, taste and your soul. It is particularly enjoyable to drink wine with homemade specialities, which you will experience on our Pelješac wine trail. Pošip and Mali Plavac wines from the Grgić wine cellar will be tasted at Trsteno, a picturesque place in a lovely cove. Also at Trsteno is beautiful pebble beach where we can stop for a swim. We continue the excursion via Potomače where a photo pause will be made. There will be ample opportunity to capture the picturesque vineyards and scenery with your camera. On the way back we will stop in Ston for lunch, where are the famous best seafood restaurants.

Pranayama & Meditation

We will methodically work through pranayama techniques designed to purify the body and prepare the mind for meditation. Explore a number of meditation styles to find which one work best for you. All taught on a beginner level.
